This forum is dedicated to the organisation of a megagame in Vienna, which begs the question: what are megagames? Well, basically, megagames are just like boardgames, except on a grandeur scale. They tend to last longer, and, more importantly, they tend to involve more players. Instead of 4 to 5 players, megagames sometime have dozens of them! Another difference is that the rules are sometime more fluid than regular boardgames, because, you will need moderators, people to run around and coordinate that many players, anyway, so you might as well give them some rule-making powers. In a traditional boardgame, if you want to take an action that is not in the rules, that the game designer did not think to include, you simply can't. In a megagame, you can ask a moderator that will try to let you do it. In that respect, it is quite similar to a tabletop role-playing game, and therefore it might not be such a surprise that the idea of the Wien megagame started at a role playing group (at Rpg Vienna) If you are curious to see a megagame in action, here is a link to the "shut up and sit down"'s episode on megagames that made us discover megagames and started our forays: And here is the link to the organisers of this particular game. I hope this short preview you as excited as we are about the prospect of a megagame in our little city! See you around!
