An old RPG-"Guild" exists in Simmering (near u3 enkplatz)
Amlash as well as me were once part of that some years ago (technically still are).
Their membership has drastically droped in the last years, and one of their mods recently told me, that they would have two big (well lit) empty rooms.
They downside would be, that have the rooms only on Thursdays and only till 22h
Would that be an option, maybe? (meanwhile I can start trying to recruit them ^_^)

Well, Thursday is a bit of a problem, I don't think we could recruit many people on a week day. And the only holiday I can think off that falls on a Thursday, provided the room is also available on Holidays, won't be until the 14th of May 2015.
I am afraid the Thursday bit is a deal breaker, that sucks, it seems ideal otherwise...

good to know!
and hey, maybe we can talk to the owners of the place directly and perhaps rent it for small bucks on a weekend after all?

Well that will be difficult ...
They are renting the place from the "Social Democrat Party of Simmering", to be more specific from their "Senior Citizens Club". In addition the place has its own regulations. That is why they have to close at 10 p.m.
Maybe I can work something out. I highly doubt it (especially if it's not on a thursday afternoon; especially if they are not the (main) organizers of the event) - but it's worth trying.
I will try visit them at the 28th and will make some "recruitment speech". We'll see.

Yep. It is an interesting prospect, but expecting our players to take a day off seems unwise...

Yep. It is an interesting prospect, but expecting our players to take a day off seems unwise... I remember them having parties there at saturdays, so maybe one can arrange something. Ihe main problem is, that one of their organizers has to be there (physically), so they have to be kinda involved with the project. Is Amlash in your Orga-Team ? If yes, maybe he could talk to them? (he knows them even longer than I do)

nope, not yet he aint.
But I think either one of you could serve as a liaison officer, so to speak. And if one of their organizers absolutely has to be physically present for the event (and we decide to go for that location), I'm sure there is a way to weave him into the game in some shape or form...

Nice. That would only leave the questions:
* how much would the place cost us to rent for an evening?
* and do they have a guy who speaks English well enough to participate in the game, and wants to do so also? Or will he just sit by? (which is also okay if need be, imho)
* and is it also only until 22.00 on weekends?

Sounds great. Thanks for your help...
One thing I want to stress, however, is how early we are in the process. Nothing is set in stone, it is just a cool project we would like to see happen and have started working on.
Among other things, we don't know how many players we will have, although, we all agreed on "not so many that we are overwhelmed and that it ruins the game for everybody. It's something to keep in mind when when "recruiting" other people. The number of spots will be limited...

yes, I agree with Simon on this. It would be great if you could ask the guys at the Simmeringer Zentrum about possible options for playing there! But please keep the advertising/recruiting for the game sort of low, for now, if that's possible? Its our first time doing this, after all, and we are a bit unsure of how many players we'll even need / be able to accomodate, AND we won't even have settled on a final scenario by the date when you plan to go there (Aug 28th) We (or you) can always do some more advertising later on, if we know more about how many players we'll actually get from RPGV (and other groups/places?), right? We just don't wanna end up having to send interested people away in droves (OR, you could always go there like one or two weeks later, by which time we'll perhaps already have a clearer picture to give you - and them)

I was chatting with one of their Mods on the 19th and that was just basically what I told him.
I just have to talk to the 2 main Orgas to get more info. and I prefer to do such talk face to face (plus both were not online to their own forum for at least 3 years^^).
Their "Simmeringer RPG-Treff" was pretty big once (>50 people), but since 2 years they are currently down to ~ 10 people or so.
Former members you know are AmLash, me and Bazhell (the "Mini *** Boot" witch from the Kingmaker Group with Thopthes^^)
They have one small room (plus a very small smoker room and a kitchen) plus two big rooms (~ big class-room / conference room), which are seperated by a moveable divinding wall. The small room is ~ double the size of the "backroom" of the Spielbar, filled with one huge table. Each of the big roms is ~ double the size of the Spielraum room, Simon mentioned, as far as I remember correctly.
Sounds kina perfect - but as I said before, I kinda doubt it would work without getting them on board as an organizer. PLUS as far as I remember, being "forced" to use english was a big "No" to some of their members (so going there again is also me trying to see, if this got better, or if those guys/gals are among the "surving" 10 members).
